Version: 1.0.2 Build 87
1. Introduction & Welcome
Welcome to your new digital golf memory bank! KeyLock myGolf Journal is designed to be the fastest, most intuitive way to track your golf games, your wagers, and your greatest shots without the hassle of clunky spreadsheets or complex menus.
At KeyLock Software, our core philosophy is built around total data privacy. We utilize a strictly "local-first" architecture. We firmly believe that your golf data is your exclusive property, which is why we do not own, collect, or store any of the information you enter on private cloud servers.
Because of this commitment to your privacy, you are never required to create an account, provide an email address, or log in to use the app. There are no passwords to remember. The moment you download the app, it is ready to use, and everything you log is stored safely and securely solely on your own Apple device.
2. The 90-Day Free Trial
We want you to have plenty of time to experience everything myGolf Journal has to offer before you make any financial commitment. We do not believe in rushing you or locking features behind a paywall on Day 1.
Starting Your Trial Your 90-day free trial begins automatically the exact moment you open the app for the very first time. You do not need to enter a credit card or sign up for a subscription to start this trial.
What is Included? During this 90-day period, the app is 100% fully unlocked. You have complete, unrestricted access to every single feature. There are absolutely no limits on how many rounds you can log, how many photos you can attach, or which dynamic statistics you can view.
Checking Your Status You can easily check how many days you have remaining in your trial at any time. Simply navigate to the Settings tab at the bottom of your screen and look inside the Your License Info box.
What happens when the 90 days are up? Do not worry—your data is never deleted. It remains perfectly safe and stored locally on your device. However, a paywall screen will appear, and you will need to select a subscription plan (Monthly, Yearly, or Lifetime) to continue logging new rounds and viewing your journal.
3. Step-by-Step: Logging Your Rounds
Getting your current game recorded is incredibly fast, allowing you to focus on the course rather than staring at your phone.
To log a standard round, open the app and tap the ➕ ENTRY tab at the bottom of the screen. Here, you will be presented with a clean, simple form: . Select the Date of your round. . Type in the name of the Golf Course. . Enter your final Score.
Tracking Your Wagers If you are playing for a little friendly competition, you can track who you played with in the Group field (e.g., "Saturday Foursome"). Below that, you can enter the Ante (the buy-in amount) and your Win/Loss amounts. The app uses these specific wager tracking fields to instantly calculate your Net $ profit or loss for the day, removing the need for manual math in the clubhouse!
4. Step-by-Step: Capturing a "Moment of Glory"
Some shots are simply too good to forget. Whether you sink an amazing Eagle, hit a Hole-in-One, or achieve the elusive Albatross, you can document these special events to capture the memory forever.
To log one of these achievements, go to the Entry tab. At the top of the form, you will see a dropdown menu labeled "Moment of Glory" that defaults to "Normal Round". Tap this and change it to your specific accomplishment.
Changing this dropdown dynamically unlocks a set of special fields designed to record every single detail of the shot: * The Technical Details: Log the specific hole number, the club you used, the tees played, the exact yardage, and the weather/course conditions. * The Story: List the witnesses who saw it happen, and use the text box to write a full recount of the story so you never forget how the ball rolled in. * The Photos: You can attach photos of your signed scorecard, the hole, or your celebration with friends directly to the entry to bring the memory to life on your Journal tab.
5. Step-by-Step: Tracking Your Stats
The 📊 STATS tab is your personal dashboard for knowing exactly where you stand financially and competitively.
At the top of the Stats menu, you will see beautifully colored placards that display your Lifetime Net and Year-to-Date (YTD) Net winnings at a single glance. The app calculates these automatically based entirely on the Ante and Win/Loss data you enter on the Entry tab.
Using Dynamic Filters To dive deeper into your performance, use the dynamic dropdown filters located just below the placards. You can sort and filter your winnings by: * All Years vs. A Selected Year * All Courses vs. A Specific Course * All Groups vs. Specific Groups of Friends
As you change these filters, the placards dynamically calculate and update in real-time to show exactly how you perform under those specific conditions. Want to know exactly how much money you won against the "Saturday Foursome" at "Pebble Beach" in 2025? The filters will tell you instantly.
6. Browsing the Journal
The 📜 JOURNAL tab acts like a personalized, highly private social media feed composed entirely of your own golf history.
As you scroll down, you will see a beautiful visual timeline of your rounds, with each game displayed on its own custom card. You can quickly filter these records by date to find a specific game from months or years ago.
The Highlight Reel: For a quick look at your best days, toggle the "Show Special Moments Only" switch at the top of the Journal. This instantly hides your standard rounds and beautifully displays only your Hole-in-Ones, Eagles, and the special photos you have attached to them!
7. Managing Your Data, Backups & Restores
Because KeyLock myGolf Journal is a "local-first" app, we do not have servers. This guarantees your privacy, but it also means you are responsible for keeping your data safe.
What happens if I delete the app? Because the data is stored locally, deleting the app from your phone will permanently wipe your database. Always perform a Full Data Backup to save your database file before deleting the app or moving to a new device.
Automatic vs. Manual Backups
-
Automatic Device Backups (iCloud): Because your data is stored locally, it is automatically backed up to Apple’s servers overnight, provided you have myGolf Journal toggled "On" in your iPhone’s standard iCloud Backup settings.
-
Manual Backups (Highly Recommended): We strongly encourage you to take ownership of your data by using the backup tools in the Settings menu to save your history directly to your personal cloud storage.
Export to CSV vs. Full Data Backup (ZIP)
Because you own your data, we provide two distinct ways to export your history:
-
📊 Export to CSV (Spreadsheet): Converts your entire golf journal and stats into a standard spreadsheet file (.csv). This is perfect if you want to open your data in Excel or Numbers to run custom math or print a raw list. (Note: This export does not include photos).
-
📤 Full Data Backup (ZIP): Packages your entire database plus all of your Special Moment photos into a single, compressed ZIP file. This is your "Master Backup" and should be run frequently. If you lose your phone, importing this ZIP file will perfectly restore everything!
Managing Backup Storage
KeyLock prioritizes data safety. Every time you backup, the app creates a uniquely dated file (e.g., myGolf_Backup_2026-04-15.zip) so you never accidentally overwrite a good backup with a bad one. Because our database is optimized, these files are very small and will not significantly impact your storage.
To delete old backups and declutter: 1. Open the native Apple Files app on your iPhone. 2. Navigate to where you saved your backups (usually in iCloud Drive or On My iPhone > Downloads). 3. Select the older files you no longer need and delete them. (Note: KeyLock cannot automatically scan or delete files on your personal iCloud Drive for security reasons).
Upgrading to a New Phone
If you use Apple’s "Device-to-Device Transfer" or "Restore from iCloud Backup" when setting up your new iPhone, your app and data will automatically transfer. However, if you are setting up your phone as a "Brand New Device," you will need to manually restore your data using a Full Data Backup (ZIP) file.
Preparing & Importing Spreadsheet Data
If you currently track your golf records in Excel or Numbers, you can import them into the app. First, save a copy of your spreadsheet as a CSV (Comma Separated Values) file. This strips away visual styling and leaves the raw data our tool needs.
The Golden Rules of Importing: * No Titles or Blank Rows: Row 1 must be your column headers. Delete overarching titles or blank top rows. * No Subtotals: Remove "Yearly Totals" or SUM formulas at the bottom. * Date Formatting: Ensure dates are formatted consistently (e.g., MM/DD/YYYY). * Required Headers: At a minimum, include: Date, Course, Score, Group, Ante, Win/Loss.
Pro-Tip: If your spreadsheet has missing data, it is much easier to fill those blanks in using Excel before importing! Once clean, transfer the CSV file to your iPhone’s iCloud Drive.
Restoring Data or Importing a CSV
To bring data into the app: 1. Navigate to the Settings menu. 2. Tap the green "📥 Import / Restore Data" button. 3. Select your file from your device, iCloud, or Dropbox.
If you select a ZIP Backup: The app will ask if you want to Replace all current data (perfect for a new phone) or Merge the backup with your existing data (great for recovering deleted rounds). If you select a CSV Spreadsheet: A smart mapping screen will pop up, allowing you to match your spreadsheet columns to the app’s fields to prevent duplicates.
The "Clear All Data" Master Reset
The 🗑️ Clear All Data button at the bottom of the Settings menu acts as a master reset. Using this will permanently erase every single golf round, special moment, and photo currently saved in the app. This is mainly used if you have been logging fake practice rounds and want to start fresh.
This is not reversible. Because your data lives exclusively on your device, we cannot recover it. The app will ask you twice to confirm, but ensure you have performed a Full Data Backup (ZIP) before using this button!
8. Subscriptions
When you are ready to subscribe, you can select from flexible Auto-Renewing Subscriptions, or opt for a one-time License.
You can tap the View Subscription Plans button inside the Settings tab at any time to review these tiers and purchase them securely through Apple’s App Store: * Monthly Subscription: A flexible, month-to-month plan. * Yearly Subscription: An annual plan that provides a discount over the monthly rate. * Lifetime License: A one-time, non-consumable purchase that unlocks the app permanently.
Cross-Platform Compatibility Subscriptions are exclusively managed by the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. A subscription purchased on an iOS device will not carry over to an Android device (and vice versa). You will need a new license if you switch operating systems.
9. Contacting Support
If you encounter a glitch, have a question, or need assistance, the quickest way to contact us is directly from inside the app.
Navigate to the ⚙️ SETTINGS tab and tap the 🐛 Report a Bug / Contact Support link. This will automatically open our web-based Support Form and pre-populate your exact App Version and Build Number so our developer team can assist you as quickly and efficiently as possible.
10. Legal Terms
By downloading and using KeyLock myGolf Journal, you agree to our core legal policies. Because we frequently update these documents to comply with platform regulations, you can read the live, always up-to-date versions directly on our website using the links below.
